Rising Sun Busted Arrest Path
Rising Sun is the seat of Ohio County and its only incorporated town. About 2,219 people live there, per the 2024 place estimate from STATS Indiana, which draws on U.S. Census Bureau Population Division data. Public safety in a town this size runs through the county. The Rising Sun administration directory lists the Ohio County Sheriff's Office and 911 Communications as the contacts. No city police department, records desk, daily bulletin, or arrest log appears there. Old news stories may cite a Rising Sun Police Department, but a bygone mention is not a working records channel today.
That makes the sheriff the first official call after an arrest in the city. It is not the only one, though. Indiana's 2025 criminal justice report notes that Ohio County houses detainees in other counties because it has no jail. So the sheriff may hold the arrest report. The receiving jail may hold the booking entry and photograph. Any court filings sit with the clerk and Indiana's MyCase system. Each record covers a different stage, so a name match alone proves little.
Where Rising Sun Busted Mugshots Appear
There is no official Rising Sun mugshot gallery and no Ohio County booking feed. An official search has to trace the record from the sheriff to the confirmed holding jail, and onward to the court. Save news and archive pages for last. They can be selective, outdated, or unmoored from who is actually in custody right now.
| Channel | Photo? | Status | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ohio County Sheriff | By request, if held and releasable | Official | Confirm the arrest, custodian, and receiving jail |
| Confirmed receiving-jail roster | Depends on facility; Dearborn displays photos | Official | Check present custody after placement is confirmed |
| Indiana SAVIN/VINE | No mugshot archive | Official | Check custody status and register for notices |
| Indiana MyCase | No booking-photo gallery | Official | Follow filed charges, orders, and disposition |
| Regional news outlets | Sometimes, usually agency-supplied | Secondary | Find context for selected events |
| Mugshots.com county page | Yes | Unofficial and stale | Historical discovery only |
The Mugshots.com Ohio County page does name Rising Sun, but it held only three records. All were from 2013. Treat it as an archive, not a source for recent arrests. RecentlyBooked and Busted Newspaper had no working Ohio County section. Arrests.org and Mugshots.zone could not be verified. One more caution: a copied image can linger online long after release, dismissal, correction, sealing, or expungement.
Find Who Was Busted Rising Sun
One Ohio County roster will not settle a city arrest. Start with the office that can tell you where the person was placed. Then follow custody from one system to the next. The Ohio County records hub covers rosters, booking records, and custody tools county-wide.
- Call the Ohio County Sheriff at 812-438-3636. Give the full name and approximate arrest date, then ask which jail received the person.
- Use that jail's official current-custody search. If the sheriff confirms Dearborn County, search the Dearborn County inmate page by name.
- Compare the booking time, inmate ID, home city and state, arresting-agency code, and charge. Do not assume every Dearborn entry belongs to an Ohio County case.
- Check Indiana SAVIN for custody status and an optional release or transfer notice.
- Search Indiana MyCase for the filed case, cause number, court events, orders, and final result.
An empty roster result does not mean no arrest happened. Transport and intake can delay a listing. A released person drops off a current-custody page. A transfer can push the record into another system entirely. Someone sentenced to state custody shows up in the Indiana Department of Correction locator, not a county roster. For an older event, ask the agencies that created or kept the records for the booking sheet and photo.
Note: Dearborn County was documented as the receiving jail in a 2020 county plan, but the 2025 state report names no permanent destination.
Rising Sun Arrest Record Requests
Start on the Ohio County side with a focused letter to the Sheriff's Office. The county offers no records form, portal, fee schedule, office hours, or turnaround promise. No posted photo policy either. Your request has to do all the work. Indiana's Access to Public Records Act, Indiana Code 5-14-3, governs inspection and copying. A Public Access Counselor opinion also matters here. It treats booking photographs as public records, subject to lawful exceptions and the facts of the request. Public status still never forces an agency to post images online.
Keep the wording plain. Ask only for records that already exist. Split the arrest report, the booking or intake sheet, and the booking photograph into separate requests, since different custodians may hold each one. Include the full name, the approximate arrest or booking date, and the arresting agency if you know it. Name the exact item you want. Ask for electronic delivery where practical, a cost estimate before copies are made, and the right custodian's name if Ohio County does not hold the image.
- Identify the person and the approximate date of the Rising Sun arrest.
- Request the booking or intake sheet and booking photograph as separate named records.
- Ask whether the Ohio County Sheriff or an outside receiving jail controls each item.
- Request the current lawful fee and delivery terms instead of assuming a price or deadline.
- If material is denied or redacted, ask for the legal basis stated in the response.

Why Rising Sun Has No Roster
No Ohio County roster exists. There is a reason. The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute's 2025 report confirms the county runs no jail of its own. People booked there get housed elsewhere. A 2020 planning document pointed to Dearborn County as the receiving facility. Intercounty agreements can shift, though. Treat that detail as history, not a promise about where any given detainee sits today.
Dearborn's online list answers one question: who is in custody right now. Each entry carries a name, booking date and time, an ID number, age, physical descriptors, home city and state, an arresting-agency code, the charge statute with its description, and a booking photo. The page says nothing about refresh rates or how long entries linger after release. Someone released yesterday may simply vanish from the list, even while the sheriff's underlying record and the court case carry on elsewhere.
So this page cannot substitute for the Dearborn list. The two serve different purposes.
- Booking
- The intake process that creates identity, charge, custody, and often photograph records.
- Current roster
- An operational list of people shown in a jail now, not a full arrest archive.
- Disposition
- The court's outcome, such as dismissal, plea, judgment, or sentence.
- Transfer
- A move between custodians that can shift the useful search to another system.
Rising Sun Busted Custody Checks
Each official system answers a different question. The Ohio County Sheriff can confirm the local arrest record and direct a caller to the receiving jail. That jail's roster concerns physical custody there. SAVIN supplies statewide custody status and notifications where data is available. MyCase follows the Indiana prosecution after filing. The IDOC locator covers sentenced state custody and does not show a public offender portrait in its current detail view.
| Stage | Best source | What it cannot prove |
|---|---|---|
| Arrest or local intake | Ohio County Sheriff | Current location after transfer |
| Held outside Ohio County | Confirmed receiving jail | Final guilt or case outcome |
| Release or transfer alert | SAVIN/VINE | Booking-photo availability |
| Filed court case | MyCase or Circuit Court Clerk | Real-time physical custody |
| Sentenced state custody | IDOC offender locator | A recent Rising Sun booking |
Keep the identifiers separate. A jail may use an inmate ID, MyCase uses a cause number, and IDOC uses a DOC number. Match dates, agency, county, and other lawful identifying details before connecting records. Charges can be reduced, amended, or dismissed after booking, so the docket is the necessary continuation of the arrest record.
Rising Sun Crime Reports
Rising Sun has no verified routine police blotter or newspaper mugshot gallery. Regional outlets publish event-driven stories when an arrest is part of a larger incident, agency release, warrant operation, crash, or follow-up investigation. Eagle Country 99.3, 95.3 WIKI, WRBI, Register Publications, and regional television may cover the city, but none is a complete person-search tool. Publication schedules and photo use vary by story.
Photo credit can reveal which agency supplied an image. One Eagle Country story about an Ohio County Sheriff's investigation credited a Dearborn County Sheriff's Office photograph. A WIKI report about an Ohio County shooting investigation credited an arrest image to Indiana State Police. Those examples show why a news photo is not automatically the Ohio sheriff's booking file. The case jurisdiction, arresting agency, holding jail, and image custodian can all differ.
Use reporting to identify an agency, date, or court matter, then return to official sources. The Ohio County crime news page compares the regional outlets and the path from a published story to the government record. A dated article cannot establish present custody or prove that the allegations led to conviction.
Rising Sun Busted Case Outcomes
MyCase is the main official path after a Rising Sun booking. Search by party information or cause number, confirm that the case belongs in Ohio County, then read the chronological case summary. Public entries may show filed counts, hearings, orders, judgment, sentence, and later activity. The accusation on an intake sheet may not match what prosecutors file, and neither one should be reported as a conviction without the court's final disposition.
Public online access has limits. Sealed, confidential, and expunged matters may not appear. Some juvenile case categories are unavailable to the public, and a document that is not downloadable may still be available from the Ohio Circuit Court Clerk under court-access rules. Do not try to reconstruct protected material from copied image sites. For a public file that is incomplete online, the clerk is at PO Box 185, Rising Sun, IN 47040, and can be reached at 812-438-2610.
The full chain is short to state but important to follow: arrest in Rising Sun, Ohio County record, transport to a confirmed receiving jail, court filing in MyCase, and disposition in the court record. A move to IDOC occurs only after a qualifying sentence. Keeping those stages distinct prevents an old booking photo or stale news report from being mistaken for a current fact.
